Heat named Adweek’s Breakthrough Agency of the Year

Heat was hoping for “Adweek’s Breakdance Agency of the Year” but is extremely proud to be named Adweek’s Breakthrough Agency of the Year.

It’s been a great journey, beginning in 2004, with twelve employees and two clients, but we’ve always known that the hard work would pay off. Being recognized in such company as BBDO and Grey is a huge deal for us.

“When I started this agency 11 years ago, I definitely had high hopes for where we could go. Heat has become more than an agency – it’s a home for the best creatives in the business. And some of them aren’t even in the creative department.” said Steve Stone, chairman and executive creative director. “It was a combination of factors that gave us this killer year. We hired the right Heaters, connected with the right clients, and made investments in the right places. Not to mention the years of work we’ve put in leading up to this point. I’m very proud.”

“Heat couldn’t have had a better year. There are so many things that have gone well for us this past year and being named Adweek’s Breakthrough Agency of the Year is the icing, candles, and sprinkles on that cake,” said John Elder, president of Heat. “Being recognized for our work by a publication like Adweek and on the level of BBDO and Grey puts us in great company. Our creative has been stellar and there is so much more to come in the new year.”

Heat’s secret sauce is not just about the element of surprise. It’s also about the people who work here. We value our creative product just as much as we value our people. This award comes down to a culmination of great business decision making and really damn hardworking, smart, caring people. People who create work that makes you excited to wake up and GO to work. This award does not just belong to Stoney and Elder, it belongs to all Heaters, past and present, who have helped make this place what it is.

We don’t want to gloat (ok, we might, maybe for a second), though we do want to note that becoming Adweek’s Breakthrough Agency of the Year will not, in any way, involve a change in speed. We’re not hitting pause and we’re not slowing down. We’re going all out in 2016. This award acts only as a pat on the back for work done, and a huge motivator for the work to BE done.

Thanks to Adweek for this tremendous honor. And thanks most of all to our Heaters for making us who we are: a creative sanctuary, free of ego, where people come to do the best work of their lives.

We’ll continue to work on our Breakdancing skills for next year’s Agency of the Year competition.
